A contender for the most beautiful car ever created, the short wheelbase version of the Ferrari 250 California Spyder with bodywork by Carrozeria Scaglietti was launched at the Geneva show in 1960. Only around 55 were built and it remains one of the most desirable Ferraris of the period.
The perfectly balanced and tastefully restrained lines of the bodywork remain an inspiration to designers today.
At 1:8 the model is approximately 60 cms (24 inches) long. Creating the master model took around 4,000 hours of work by a small team of highly skilled modelmakers. Each individual model then took around 350 hours more to finish and build.
The model is very deeply detailed and shows the engine bay, chassis, drive train, suspension and the cockpit, all in extremely fine and accurate detail.
Data for the model was taken from a scan of 2377GT owned for many years by James Coburn. Each model in the edition of 199 pieces has a signed certificate of authentication and a unique edition numbered plate on the base.
